What is ISO?
Lord Krishna in Bhagvad Gita says,
समोअहं सर्व भूतेषू ! न में द्वेशोस्ति न प्रिया !!
ये भजन्ति तु मां भक्त्या ! मयि ते तेषु चाप्या अहम् !!
"Samo aham Sarva bhuteshu, na me dvyeshyosti na priyaa ! Yeh bhajanti tu mam bhaktya, mayi teshu chapya aham !!" (BG Verse 9.29)
What does this mean?
"Samo aham sarva bhuteshu" means I am equal to all living beings, (samo-equal, aham-I, sarvabhuteshu-all living beings) "Na me dvyeshyosti na Priya" means neither I envy with anyone nor do I love anyone. I am impartial. (na-do not, me-me, dvyeshyosti-envy, na-not, Priya-Love)
You may wonder, am I talking about Bhagvadgita or ISO ? Don’t worry even though they are different there is a common connection about establishing the principle of equality.
Here lord Krishna says that I am not partial anyone and thus equal to everyone. I shower by blessings equally with every living being no matter what kind of creature you are. Thus equality is established since formation of the universe.
ISO is established with the whole principle of establishing the equality and no scope of any partiality among creation process of every product, thus the standard is applicable to process applied and not the outcome.
How the name ISO originated?
Please understand that ISO is not an abbreviation, even though it is widely known as International Organization for standardization. There would be different abbreviation in different language for instance in English it can be IOS (International Organization for standardization) or in French it can be OIN (Organisation internationale de normalisation). In order to emphasize the true purpose of the organization founders named the organization as ISO. The word ISO is derived from initial Greek word "isos" means equal. Thus the purpose of organization about providing an equal treatment or establish equality gets emphasized.
ISO Organization
ISO is an independent, nongovernment international organization. ISO was initially established in London in the year 1946 with delegation from25 countries. Current central headquarter of ISO is located in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO comprises of 164 national standard bodies from different countries. Listed below are few examples from India, Middle East, UK and USA. .

Qatar – QS - Qatar General Organization for Standardization
UAE – ESMA - Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology
Saudi Arabia – SASO - Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization
UK – BSI – British Standards Institution
United States – ANSI – American National Standards Institute
